To mark this last day of school I want to thank Patty Brittain and Robin Perry for a great year at Tyler Catholic Schools. As the Tyler Catholic School Community already knows I have recently asked Mrs. Robin Perry to serve as Principal of Bishop Gorman and St. Gregory Catholic Schools. She is already making great strides for our wonderful schools as she embraces all the students from Pre K to 12th grade. Mrs. Perry and I express our profound gratitude to those who have served on the advisory councils of both schools and she is moving forward to constitute a single, unified Advisory Council to assist her. Please keep Mrs. Perry, the faculty and staff of our schools, and especially all of the students in your prayers as we move into the summer months of working and planning for a bright future.

Please be assured of my prayers for a great summer for all of our families.

The protection of human life, from the moment of conception to natural death, is an issue of primary importance in the United States, and the State of Texas. Every adult Catholic should vigorously defend life, both in the public square and in the voting booth. All persons who are committed to the protection of life should unify around the teaching of the Catholic Church, beautifully taught by Saint John Paul II in his encyclical, Evangelium Vitae:

Laws which legitimize the direct killing of innocent human beings through abortion or euthanasia are in complete opposition to the inviolable right to life proper to every individual; they thus deny the equality of everyone before the law. Pope John Paul II, Evangelium vitae, no. 72.
