Bishop Strickland has issued an appeal for unity to all non-Catholic Christians. It was run in local newspapers in Tyler, Longview, and Nacogdoches. You can read the letter below:
On Friday, Oct. 27, 4-6 pm, at the Stilwell Humanities Music Hall at Texarkana College, Lowell Davis of the St. Basil’s School of Gregorian Chant in Houston, Texas, will present a lecture that covers the history and basic theory of Gregorian chant.
Then, on Saturday Oct. 28, Davis will lead a workshop on singing Gregorian chant from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4505 Elizabeth St. in Texarkana, Texas.

St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, is 100 years old. Join in the festivities on Saturday, November 18, Bishop Strickland will say Mass at 5:30 pm, and there will be a reception in the parish hall.

The St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization will present a Diocesan Teaching Event: Full of Grace: Understanding the Immaculate Conception, on Saturday December 9, from 9am-approximately 1 pm.
Dr. David Tamisiea, executive director of the St. Philip Institute, will speak on “The development of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.” Father Johua NMeu, SSL, will speak on “The Immaculate Conception in Sacred Scripture.” Father George Elliot, STL, will speak on “The Immaculate Conception in the Early Church.” Finally, Father Mitch Pacwa, SJ, will give the homily at the closing Mass to end the event.
The event is free, and will be held at the Chapel of Sts. Peter and Paul, 1435 ESE Loop 323 in Tyler.
