Tyler, TX, February 9, 2019— Couples from across the Diocese of Tyler gathered for holy mass and to celebrate the wonderful graces they received in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. These couples celebrated anniversaries ranging from 5 to an impressive 74 years of marriage! Bishop Strickland offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, which was followed by a reception in the Cathedral center. The St. Philip Institute and Diocese of Tyler would like to pay a special thanks to the Cathedral Altar Society for sponsoring this year’s reception.
LONGVIEW — Deacon Joseph R. Pipak, Sr., 90, passed away Jan. 30, 2019, in his home surrounded by family. Rosary will be recited Saturday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. It will be followed by visitation from 5:30 8 p.m. at Radar Funeral home in Longview.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Most Rev. Joseph Strickland will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Longview at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4 followed by interment at Rosewood Cemetery in Longview.
Today (Jan. 31), Bishop Joseph E. Strickland issued a letter to the clergy, religious, and faithful of the Diocese of Tyler in which he shared the names of clergy (priests and deacons) who were the subjects of credible allegations of sexual abuse of a minor while they were present and serving in the Diocese of Tyler.
