This year, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, which is ordinarily celebrated on December 8, is transferred to the following day, December 9, since December 8 will be dedicated to the celebration of the second Sunday of Advent.
Accounting for the difficulties that may be posed to the faithful and to parishes by an obligation to attend Mass on two consecutive days, Bishop Vásquez has granted a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception this year.
As the celebration of the Blessed Mother under her title of the Immaculate Conception is the Patronal Solemnity of our nation and our diocese, he encourages all the faithful to make a special effort to attend Mass on December 9 even though there is no obligation to do so this year.
Please check your local parish for Mass times.
